Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Library + Archives
http://rockhall.com/library/In case you haven’t heard the amazing news yet, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives is now open! They have some really cool collections, and I’m sure they will only continue to acquire more as they gain more visibility. The Library is free and open to the public and archival collections are accessible to scholars and by appointment. Check out the finding aids for the archival collections via the Resources tab. Highlights include the Sire Records Collection, Clive Davis Correspondence, the Wilco Collection, and the Four Tops Collection. I also like the fact that this kind of makes it official that it’s ok to like rock and roll AND be a librarian.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Ohio opens library and archives to the public
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum opened its new library and archives to the public on Tuesday to give scholars and fans access to the stories behind the music through such “artifacts” as personal letters from Madonna and Aretha Franklin and 1981-82 video of the Rolling Stones tour. The collection, catalogued over the last few years, includes more than 3,500 books, 1,400 audio recordings and 270 videos, and is housed in the new four-story, $12 million building.
Gah — this AP story…. To clarify: Archivists have been processing archival collections for the past two years; librarians have been cataloging their material for only the last eight months. And we have a substantial backlog. We’re working through things as quickly (and accurately) as we can. What I’m saying/asking is: Please come in with reasonable and realistic expectations of available, cataloged items.
Thank you!Your Humble Rock Hall Cataloger
